Upstate NY Anesthesiologist Position nestled in the beautiful Adirondacks.

This anesthesiologist position is in upstate New York at a department that currently consists of seven employed anesthesiologists (one solely performing cardiac cases), one employed CRNA and one private anesthesiologist (here for over 28 years).  In 2006 the group moved from a private entity to employed positions. This was a welcome change for both parties as it provides a more stable environment for our anesthesiologists as we move forward to create a full-service department in upstate New York (NY).The anesthesiologists in our beautiful New York office cover the range of general cases including general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, vascular, thoracic and neurosurgery. We do some backs and necks with the neurosurgeons, but we almost never do any intracranial procedures. We don't do any peds less than 6 months old, and rarely are we involved in children under 12 months old. We are almost entirely 1-on-1 anesthesia by anesthesiologists. We have one CRNA who is usually supervised by the anesthesiologist on call that day. This anesthesiologist provides our back-up for immediate response to daytime emergencies.

Upstate New York Anesthesiologist Position Details

  • The physicians cover two calls: first is 1:6 with a very short post call workday.
  • Second call, also 1:6, is reserved for emergencies or for placement of labor epidurals if 1st-call is occupied. Call for both is from home with a response time of 20 minutes.
  • The physicians cover in the main OR's (7) at the medical center, the Ambulatory Surgery Center (2 OR's) and at a freestanding Eye Care Surgery Center.
  • Both off-site locations are within a five-minute drive.
  • Coverage is coordinated so that the physicians don't have to travel between sites on any given day.
